| KMCT School of Nursing, established in the year 2005, trains aspiring candidates in becoming qualified nurses. The school imparts them with clinical competency, administrative skills and ethical commitment for the changing health needs of the society and moulds them into qualified caregivers for the needy. The school is attached to a hospital, managed by the trustees of KMCT Group. |

Courses Offered
3 1/2 years Diploma Course In General Nursing and Midwifery.

Eligibility
1. A pass in +2 examination or its equivalent with physics, chemistry, and biology as optional subjects with an aggregate of 45% marks for physics, chemistry, and biology. In the case of SC/ST Candidates a pass in +2 examination or its equivalent with physics, chemistry, and biology is sufficient.
2. The candidate should be single or widow and the age should not be less than 17 years or more than 27 years as on the 1st June of the year in which the applications are called for: minimum height 147 cm and minimum weight 38.5 kg with relaxation of upper age limit up to 5 years in the case of candidates belonging to SC/ST and up to 3 years in the case of candidates belong to the backward community.
3. The eligible candidate should apply in the prescribed form. The application form and prospectus can be obtained from ‘The principal KMCT School of Nursing, Mampatta-673602 on payment of Rs.100/-or Rs.125/-by post.
4. The duly filled application form along with photocopies of the following documents should be submitted before the last date specified.:
a. Certificates of the SSLC and +2 or its equivalent exam.
b. Certificates of Merits of co-curricular and extra-curricular activities, if any.
c. Conduct Certificate Principal, or Head of the School last attended. d. A covering letter in the candidate's own hand writing.
Interview
Suitable candidates will be called for an interview on a prescribed date with the representatives of Kerala Nursing Council and the interview board of the institution. The candidate has to make her/his own arrangement for the interview and the following original certificates are to be produced.
a. SSLC.
b. +2 or its equivalent.
c. TC and Conduct Certificate.
d. Certificates of merits of co-curricular and extra –curricular activities, if any.
All Short-Listed Candidates have to undergo a complete medical check-up (at the candidate's cost) in the Hospital and only those who qualify are accepted for admission. The list of candidates selected for the course will be announced on the next day.
The classes commence on the 1 st October of the year. |

Facilities
The school has all necessary equipments and facilities for the smooth conduct of the course apart from the state-of-the-art facilities available at National Hospital for practice. Fully equipped class rooms, labs and a large library with several hundreds of books and journals on related subjects are provided for the course. |

Objectives
At the end of three and a half years of professional training, the student is expected to:
1. Have the Knowledge, aptitude and the skill necessary for assessing the nursing needs of the individuals, families and communities.
2. Understand and apply the relevant knowledge from biological and behavioral sciences in planning, implementing and evaluating the safe nursing care.
3. Adapt and co-operate with other members of the health team in the hospital or in the community in order to serve effectively and to update health concepts.
4. Impart relevant knowledge to individuals and groups through health education.
5. Demonstrate nursing skills based on scientific principles most suitable to the individual needs in the patient care.
6. Demonstrate ability to supervise and guide the auxiliary nursing personnel who are a part of the health team.
7. Demonstrate understanding and commitment to professional behaviors. |
