The National Cadet Corps (NCC) was established in 1948. NCC is a youth development movement with enormous potential for nation building, developing qualities of character, courage, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure and sportsmanship, and the ideals of selfless service among youth. It has emerged as one of the largest uniformed youth organizations in the country with the motto "Unity and Discipline". NCC is a tri-service organization of the Army, Navy and Air Force, headed at the national level by the Directorate of NCC, New Delhi, under the Ministry of Defence.
The motto of NCC is “Unity and Discipline”. Cadets are expected to be well disciplined, with good character, attitude, and ambition along with social responsibility, and to remain united as a team without discrimination based on caste, religion, gender, language, race, or social status.
The NCC unit at KMCT College of Engineering for Women is a sub unit under 9 Kerala Girls Battalion NCC. The unit was started in 2017 and conducts activities such as Republic Day parade, 10-day camps, tree plantations, and other programmes aligned with NCC aims. The aims of NCC include developing discipline, character, brotherhood, the spirit of adventure, and ideals of selfless service among young citizens, and to develop leadership qualities among youth who will serve the nation regardless of which career they choose.
